... we can help you with evictions,
security deposits, foreclosures, noncriminal tax matters, HIV/AIDS discrimination, bankruptcy, Social Security/SSI
payments, disability determinations, power of attorney for health care, wills,
medical bills, Title 19, predatory mortgages, domestic violence, public benefits, and other legal issues. While this is not an all-inclusive list of what we do, we hope it gives you an idea of the breadth of services that our trained staff of lawyers can provide. Except for court filing fees and certain case-related expenses, all of our services are free.
We have walk-in, open intake hours each Monday and Wednesday. Feel free to stop by between the hours of 1:30 and 3:30. (Please note that open intake does not apply to bankruptcies. If you wish to file for bankruptcy, call our switchboard at 414-727-5300 and ask for bankruptcy instructions.)
If you'd like to fill out our intake form before you arrive, you can get a copy here.
We're
at 521 North 8th Street, just
a half-block south of the intersection of 8th Street and Michigan Avenue. Although freeway construction has reduced available parking, you can still park for one hour in front of our building in the loading zone.
Important Notice. The mere act of contacting the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee does not establish an attorney-client relationship. Before being accepted as a client, you must come through our intake process so that we can (1) assess your financial eligibility, (2) determine that you have the type of case that we can handle, and (3) ensure that your matter does not pose a conflict of interest with past or present clients.
