Legal Aid has an attorney devoted to helping people with legal problems that have resulted from their mental health issues. This is a broad practice area and difficult to fully define, but past examples include:
- Requesting “reasonable accommodations” under the American’s with Disabilities Act to maintain housing and employment opportunities
- Helping individuals who are having difficulty accessing mental health care
- Social Security appeals
- Defending City of Milwaukee municipal citations
Legal Aid accepts these cases through our normal intake process and accepts referrals through the Grand Avenue Club.
