LGBTQ+ Legal Services

For over 20 years, Legal Aid has been providing free legal aid to low-income people living with HIV/AIDS through our Ryan White Legal Aid Program. Access to civil legal aid is an essential part of supporting health care and well being. The Ryan White Legal Aid program helps address the legal needs of people living with HIV/AIDS so that they can focus on their health and staying in care.

Services

If you have a legal problem, Legal Aid lawyers will provide brief advice, referral and, in some cases, direct representation in matters involving housing, social security disability and other public benefits, basic estate and advanced planning, consumer debt/bankruptcy help, and HIV related civil rights including privacy, health care access and employment discrimination. We cannot assist with any criminal matters.

Eligibility and Intake

Proof of WI residence, income and HIV status are required to open a case. Referrals are accepted from health care providers or, contact 414-727-5300 for more information about setting up an intake appointment with a Legal Aid attorney.
